10th Annual Right Whale Festival To Be Held November 3rd
October 24, 2018

Update - 10/29/2018: It has come to our attention that one of the food vendors that will be at the Right Whale Festival in Jacksonville Beach on November 3rd is a food truck called 'What's The Catch?'. Unfortunately, this truck serves various types of sea life including lobster. The problem is that the lobster industry is responsible for hundreds of thousands of traps that make the northwestern Atlantic Ocean a minefield of dangerous ropes - the very same types that cause North Atlantic right whales immense suffering and regularly kill them. The lobster industry is also standing in the way of potential solutions to stop the deaths of these whales. We still support the festival and encourage people to go and learn about right whales while taking part in great activities but it's unfortunate that they are choosing to have a vendor like this work at the festival and we encourage everyone who goes there to not purchase food from that vendor. Any time there is talk of boycotts and talk of changing traditions and behaviors it can be viewed with controversy but we simply state the truth and go where the truth leads. We feel that when people read our Entanglement in Fishing Gear page they will realize this for themselves which is why that page is really the centerpiece of our work at Protect Right Whales.

The 10th Annual Right Whale Festival will be held at the Sea Walk Pavilion in Jacksonville Beach, Florida from 10:00 am - 4:00 pm on November 3, 2018. The Right Whale Festival has been a big success through the years, drawing as many as 8,000+ visitors! There are many activities and exhibits for people of all ages to have fun at while learning very important information on right whales and how we can help them. To find out more, visit rightwhalefestival.com or check out the festival on Facebook at facebook.com/rightwhalefestival.
