Icelandic Company Continuing Slaughter of Endangered Whales
July 21, 2018

Source: Icelandic Whaling Company Kills Endangered Blue Whale - Sea Shepherd

The Icelandic government is allowing this horrific slaughter of endangered whales to take place in a clear violation of the commercial whaling ban set forth by the International Whaling Commission in 1946. Fin whales and blue whale are both endangered species so their slaughter is not only horrific and unnatural, it is also a major threat to their continued existence as a species. We urge our followers to not fall for some articles and some people trying to defend Iceland or defend these whalers by saying they made a mistake, as if this entire situation is just some sort of accident. First off, their slaughter of whales is not accidental. The fin whales they have been killing are being deliberately targeted. Second, any whaling observer who isn't either corrupt, stupid or both would know just from looking at this whale that all signs point to it being a blue whale. Whales have been studied by humans for hundreds of years now. There is still much to learn about them such as specific behaviors and exact places that some of them go to give birth but we've known three things for awhile: whales are highly intelligent beings with complex social lives that can feel pain, they are not natural food sources for humans and killing them for sport is unnatural and cruel. Some humans believe that because they can kill whales (by being cowards and harpooning them from inside boats) that they have a right to kill them. These people are what most others would call sick. They are not normal and engaging in the act of killing whales is a clear sign that they are not good people. Their actions have been condemned for years across the world and the commercial hunting of fin and blue whales is illegal. These whales are also classified as endangered yet, the nation of Iceland has sanctioned this slaughter in defiance of international law.

So, our question to the world is, why are you not enforcing the whaling ban and do you have plans to finally start doing so? Laws are useless without enforcement because the people who naturally wouldn't kill whales don't need a law to tell them not to kill whales yet those who do want to kill whales need to be effectively prevented from doing so through the strong enforcement of laws and international agreements. We condemn the pathetic, corrupt and nasty politicians in Iceland who are pro-whaling and are allowing this travesty to continue. We would like to send a message of support to those in Iceland who are against this slaughter. It must feel very frustrating to be in a country that is doing these things but lease know that there are others in your country, and many others around the world, that feel the way you do. Together we can put a stop to these atrocities taking place.

We are joining the calls for a boycott of Iceland. We urge all those who care about these whales to not travel to Iceland and to refuse to support them in anyway. If you live in the US or in Europe, make sure any goods you buy are not from Iceland. The government of Iceland, and those in the nation who are pro-whaling, must be forced to stop this hunt. If they cared about these whales they wouldn't have allowed it to continue and at the very least they'd be ending the hunts now. They are not doing this which is why the rest of the world must force them to through a boycott of their country until they comply with international law and stop this atrocious and demented behavior from continuing.
